We take a bale of straw from the farm and take it to a remote location in a field and set it down. scatter a few handfuls of straw around for eye appeal.
we dig a dirthole angled under the bale but do not bait it, on each side of the bale (the long side)....very rarely do we bait this set (usually if it has not produced anythign for some time).
we spray some coyote urine on the bale (fox urine works well to as well as coon urine).
we place a #2 Duke (fully modified) about 1 foot away on each of the long sides of the bale, directly centered. we then sift the dirt and some straw over the traps.
these bales attract alot of attention from critters, this is the reason we use 2 traps.
